TV...

(in Visão)
This week we have seen some of the best series on American TV awarded with the Emmy's.
I believe that portuguese television channels should try to follow the example.
The most popular series in portuguese national TV are fighting to get the best share rates. No doubt that teenagers and younger kids love them, that's why they have the obligation to be more educational.

The Hurricane

A year went by since Katrina has destroyed not only a city, but specially millions of lives of the poor, mostly blacks living in New Orleans.
That day the world watched the devastation, and the United States government promised help and relieve actions to save their fellow citizens.
The next days, we saw nothing but death, destruction and desolation. The refugees were left alone, hungry, hopeless and above all humiliated because they meant nothing, they were "invisible", according to Oprah's words.
A year after in the city are still visible the signs of the desvasting Katrina.
A year after the lives of millions of people haven't seen any hope of recovery.
They are still "invisible"...
The question is .... should they be treated like that in a country that claims to be the most powerful nation in the world?

A Great City!...

Oporto is one of the most beautiful cities I know.
Everywhere you go, you'll find something to admire.
Buildings, monuments, museums, the river, the boats, the Port Wine caves, the food...altogether to make anyone love the city.
A walk along the Ribeira is essential to learn it's spirit.

It's good to be back!

It's always good to return.
Going away from well-known places and people helps to recover from routines.
Holidays are usually ideal to do it. However, for many holidays are just different routines.
People tend to go to the same places, they like to meet "old friends", some are afraid of the unknown...
I love going to different places, I hate to follow the clock...
Even so, I love George Bernard Shaw's words that" a perpetual holiday is like hell".

Going away...

I'm going away for some time.
Holidays are here and I'll be out for a few days.
These days are important to recover from a tiring, stressing school year.
Routines are to be forgotten...at least for a while.
So, have a good time.

Fashion

Fashion dominates women.
Today, fashion is a million dollar market that makes people, women in particular, dream about a luxury world.
Fashion " promises" a glamourous lifestyle inaccessible to most of us.
However, fashion magazines, television adds and aggressive marketing campaigns are more than enough to make women spend money and time shopping for " dreams".
